    ECCFA stands with Wisconsin!
All this week, there are rallies and street demonstrations happening across the nation in support of workers rights, and in Solidarity with Public Sector workers in Wisconsin, Ohio and other states whose collective bargaining rights are under attack.

On Saturday, April 9th, in downtown Chicago these events will culminate in a huge march and rally. The march begins at 12 Noon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 151 E Wacker Drive and proceeds to Daley Plaza, at the corner of Clark and Washington, where there will be a rally from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM.

Afterwards, join other activists and progressive leaders at 3:00 PM at the Chicago Temple at 77 West Washington for a gathering sponsored by the New New Deal group. Fox Valley Citizens for Peace & Justice is one of many co-sponsors. Speakers will discuss strategies for defending our rights to earn, learn, and live in dignity. The Keynote speaker will be congressman John Conyers, who has introduced a bill, HR 870, into the House calling for a Financial Transaction Tax on all trades of stocks, currencies and derivatives, the funds from which would be used to create a Federal Jobs probram to hire the unemployed. • Don't Let Wisconsin-Style Attacks Happen in Illinois!

The IFT has heard from reliable sources that the Illinois House of Representatives may soon vote on legislation stripping collective bargaining rights from teachers and school employees under the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act. There is a real possibility that a bill could be called as early as March 29.

Do not let them silence your voice! Contact your lawmakers today and tell them to oppose any attack on collective bargaining rights. Let them know you will not allow what happened in Wisconsin to happen here. Visit, call and e-mail your legislators today to stand up and speak out for your rights!

  • AFT Message - February 22, 2011
    Virtual Solidarity

As workers’ rights and voice are being challenged nationwide, we must take immediate action. We’ve seen this firsthand in Wisconsin—and now in Ohio, Indiana and many other states.

We are pushing forward on all fronts to get our messages out efficiently, effectively—and digitally. Call it virtual solidarity, if you will.
